does anyone know how much OTC Canadian codeine you can bring over the U.S. border legally? (they sell tabs that consist of 8mg codeine + acetimenophen and caffeine as an over-the -counter pain reliever)---thanks

Technically, you can't bring any as far as I know. But I always just bring as much as I can afford and I have never had a problem. If the border guards ask you what you are taking out of the country, of course don't tell them about them. Rock on!

I don't know why you would want to. For every 8 Mg codeine there is also 15 Mg
of caffiene. To be blunt, it's not worth it.

http://www.customs.gov/xp/cgov/travel/aler...ation_drugs.xml"The U.S. Customs Service enforces Federal laws and regulations, including those of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
A new bill was recently passed by Congress that amends a portion of the Controlled Substances Act (21USC956(a)). This amendment allows a United States resident to import up to 50 dosage units of a controlled medication without a valid prescription at an international land border. These medications must be declared upon arrival, be for your own personal use and in their original container. However, travelers should be aware that drug products which are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration may not be acceptable for such importation. FDA warns that such drugs are often of unknown quality and discourages buying drugs sold in foreign countries. For further information visit the FDA'S Office of Regulatory Affairs Website."
But I've been to Canada a few times and came back without getting searched (I was with my stepsister and her friend, we looked respectable too- and we had a hotel reservation, so I assume all that made us less likely to get searched). Brought back (hypothetically) two bottles each time...I think it's really the discretion of the customs officer- I sure as hell didn't report it to him.
Good luck.

Something people here should note...if you declare what you have, the worst that can happen is the stuff will be confiscated. If you don't declare it, even if the quantity is legal for personal importation, then you ARE smuggling, and can be arrested if searched.
Just a little something to keep in mind!

How about if that 3 month supply is mailed? Anyone?

Yeah, a 3 month supply of many drugs can be mailed, especially from a NAFTA country, if the drugs are accompanied by adequate documentation. The whole '3 month' thing started in the late 1990's to allow AIDS patients greater access to experimental and/or lower cost drugs from overseas. As for scheduled chemicals w/out a prescription, it largely depends on the judgement of whatever goofball customs officer happens to be on duty at the time. I've had schedule III/special circumstance medicines (in other words...um...certain schedule III drugs that happen to be prosecuted to a higher degree than standard schedule III substances) held up in customs for 3 months...yet they still went through. I've had fairly mild things (schedule IV or even unscheduled drugs) confiscated immediately, with the Customs dept sending me a nasty little letter that kept my blood pressure and general anxiety at highest levels for half a year...though ultimately nothing happened, even though the letter said I 'would be contacted.'
Customs agents...what a bunch of disorganized fucknuggets. Sorry personal rant there...

I know someone who ordered codeine-only pills that were 30 milligrams a piece from an overseas pharmacy, and they zipped right past customs and made it safely to his home in about a month after he ordered. The cool thing is that pills containing only codeine are Schedule II. That's right, C-II! Right though the mail. Eat shit, customs and DEA!

That's the Truth! I shall add that word to my limited vocabulary. Thank you.
